1. Selfless Action (Nishkama Karma)
Sanskrit:
\[ भगवद्गीता 2.47 \]
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि॥ \]
Hindi Translation:
तुम्हारा कर्म करने में ही अधिकार है, उसके फलों में कभी नहीं। इसलिए तुम कर्मफल का हेतु मत बनो, और न ही कर्म करने में तुम्हारी आसक्ति हो।
English Meaning:
You have the right to perform your duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Do not let the fruits be the motive of your actions, and do not be attached to inaction.

न जायते म्रियते वा कदाचित्
नायं भूत्वा भविता वा न भूयः।
अजो नित्यः शाश्वतोऽयं पुराणो
न हन्यते हन्यमाने शरीरे॥

आत्मा न तो कभी जन्म लेता है और न ही कभी मरता है। यह न तो उत्पन्न हुआ है और न ही कभी उत्पन्न होगा। यह अजन्मा, नित्य, शाश्वत और पुरातन है, और शरीर के नष्ट होने पर भी इसका नाश नहीं होता।
English Meaning:
The soul is neither born nor does it ever die; nor having once existed, does it ever cease to be. The soul is unborn, eternal, everlasting, and primeval; it is not slain when the body is slain.
न जायते म्रियते वा कदाचित्
नायं भूत्वा भविता वा न भूयः।
अजो नित्यः शाश्वतोऽयं पुराणो

3. Equality (Samatva)

जो विद्या और विनय से युक्त ब्राह्मण में, गाय में, हाथी में, कुत्ते में और चांडाल में एक समान दृष्टि रखते हैं, वे ज्ञानी कहलाते हैं।
English Meaning:
The wise see with equal vision a learned and humble Brahmana, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and even an outcaste.

जो मनुष्य सभी इच्छाओं का त्याग करके, ममता और अहंकार से रहित होकर, इच्छाओं से परे होकर विचरण करता है, वही शांति प्राप्त करता है।
English Meaning:
A person who abandons all desires and lives free from longing, without any sense of “I” and “mine,” attains peace.
विहाय कामान्यः सर्वान्पुमांश्चरति निःस्पृहः।
निर्ममो निरहङ्कारः स शान्तिमधिगच्छति॥
5. Devotion (Bhakti)

अनन्याश्चिन्तयन्तो मां ये जनाः पर्युपासते।
तेषां नित्याभियुक्तानां योगक्षेमं वहाम्यहम्॥

जो भक्त मेरी अनन्य भक्ति से निरंतर मेरा चिंतन करते हुए मेरी उपासना करते हैं, उनके योगक्षेम (प्राप्ति और सुरक्षा) का मैं स्वयं वहन करता हूँ।
English Meaning:
For those who worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form, I carry what they lack and preserve what they have.
अनन्याश्चिन्तयन्तो मां ये जनाः पर्युपासते।
तेषां नित्याभियुक्तानां योगक्षेमं वहाम्यहम्॥

स्थितप्रज्ञस्य का भाषा समाधिस्थस्य केशव।
स्थितधीः किं प्रभाषेत किमासीत व्रजेत किम्॥

स्थितप्रज्ञ व्यक्ति की क्या भाषा होती है? समाधि में स्थित व्यक्ति किस प्रकार बोलता है, किस प्रकार बैठता है और किस प्रकार चलता है?
English Meaning:
What is the description of one who is steady in wisdom, one who is absorbed in meditation? How does one of steady wisdom speak, how does he sit, and how does he walk?
स्थितप्रज्ञस्य का भाषा समाधिस्थस्य केशव।
स्थितधीः किं प्रभाषेत किमासीत व्रजेत किम्॥

श्रद्धावान, इंद्रियों पर संयम रखने वाला, ज्ञान प्राप्त करता है। और ज्ञान प्राप्त करके शीघ्र ही परम शांति को प्राप्त होता है।

One who has faith, who is devoted to that knowledge, and who has mastered his senses, gains the knowledge. Having obtained this knowledge, he quickly attains supreme peace.
